When Temi Otedola walked down the aisle in Iceland to say “I do” to singer and music executive, Mr Eazi, on August 8, 2025, fans across the world swooned over the fairytale wedding.
But beyond the glamour, Temi said she chose Mr Eazi because he is first and foremost her best friend.
In a conversation with BBC News Pidgin, the daughter of Nigerian billionaire Femi Otedola admitted that there were many reasons she said yes to “forever” with the hitmaker, but one stood tall above the rest: friendship.
“There are too many. How would I choose one? Wow. First and foremost, he’s my best friend. That’s my person. And I think when you meet your person, you just know. I can’t imagine spending the rest of my life with anybody else.
“He’s the person I’m excited to spend every day with, to build our lives together, to work through ups and downs, celebrate together, and solve problems together. He’s simply my person. We’re just excited for what’s to come,” Temi disclosed.
The actress and fashion creative also touched on why she and Mr Eazi chose to move silently through their love story, keeping their courtship, engagement, and marriage under wraps until they were ready to share.
According to her, it was less about secrecy and more about control.
“It’s not necessarily about privacy. For me, it’s more about owning your own narrative. Moving in silence allows you to have a certain level of control over things. It lets you build the story you want and share it on your own terms, when you’re ready, how you want, and in the way you choose. That’s why, whether it’s work or personal news, I share in my own time,” she explained.
